Does anybody know where I can get this gear. Also, has anybody else had this gear strip? Its out of an early 85 944.

Thanks

I looked on a few website, couldn't find one. You might be better off trying to find a used speedo

I haven't seen that gear for sale anywhere, only the odometer gear. May want to try a used part, or call a shop that specializes in rebuilding VDO gauges.

I have rebuilt quite a few of those speedos and I have seen that gear strip out before. Not really sure what causes it though. I have never been able to find that gear anywhere. If you can't find one I have a good used speedo for $75.

Palo Alto Speedometer responded to my email saying they have one, $25 plus shipping. I have to call on Monday to find out the details.

You might consider a used part for that price as whatever caused it to wear like that to begin with might just do it again.

contact VDO in california, they might be able to refurbish your odometer and fix stuff thats wrong with it including the gear and other things that you think is in working condition but is not up to standards. worth a try, maybe?? but kind of pricey, at 140$ on average....

My cheap solution, cut the gear in half and turn the halves around, it works. This is good enough to tell me if I have bigger problems.
