Just curious... anyone know how things are laid out in this kit? Apparently, the aircon has to come out for this kit to be installed, but the pictures on the SFR site don't really show much as to what is going on down there. The supercharger itself seem to be mounted higher up, so what actually is going in where the aircon compressor used to be?

The alternator mounts off the bottom of the supercharger block mount and sits under the supercharger head unit. The intake for the supercharger runs down the back of the head unit and comes out under the alternator running forward to a cone filter.
There is no room for a compressor with this setup. Unless you had no power steering and could mount on the other side.

Ok, well that answers that. Does anyone know how the Huntley system was configured? I believe that allowed for the aircon to stay. It had the supercharger integrated with a custom intake plenum IIRC; perhaps this is necessary to get a supercharger unit in there without requiring a major reconfiguration of other components.
Did the Huntley system run an intercooler? Anyone know?

Hi Mark, I'm heading to Brisbane later this month, let me know if you want to discuss supercharger ideas for S2's. I'm still looking at using the Rotrex.
Cheers,
Mike

Absolutely -- let's get together and discuss.
With any luck Eric (who I suspect is a bit more serious, and certainly more knowledgable, than I am about such an enterprise) can make it.
Drop me a PM with some dates and times.

It's also not clear at this stage how an intercooler would or could install with his configuration.

Another option for retaining the AC with the SFR kit could be to replace the power steering pump with an electric pump and use the space on that side to relocate the alternator or compressor.

That's a creative idea. Turbo Tim of SFR said some customers had relocated the aircon to the PS position. I wonder what sort of electric PS pump would work?

I am currently looking at fitting one to my race car for other reasons.
Common options seem to be the MR2 pump (I have read it is large & heavy and needs some external actuation as I understand it, but cheap) and the the later 997 and GT3 pump (which is supposed to be a simple install, but not cheap), and there are probably many others which would work like the BMW mini pump, which i am thinking about.

Because I am a weak old bugger and 285 dunlop slicks on 11 inch rims are hard to steer without the pump! I know, I have done a couple of 45 minute races without a belt

Planning to go with the Raptor still at this stage (support the local business).
How does the Rotrex rate with adiabatic efficiency?
Yeah - it would be good to catch up with you and Mark.
