Light bulbs for '86 951

Both rear licence plate lights don't work on my '86 951. What size/type of bulbs do I need for replacement? Also, the instrument gauges are very dim. I would like to make them brighter. I'm planning on replacing the old reflective material with new mylar or foil as well as replacing all the old bulbs. What size and type of bulbs will I need to do the cluster? Thanks in advance.

Hi, I've never had to replace the license plate bulbs, but I believe they are a bayonet type, if memory serves. Be sure to check the fuses first!
As for the instruments, you're going to need standard 3W bulbs without holders, although they're not causing the dim lighting, but rather the reflectors inside the housing. You can learn more about repairing those with aluminum foil, and just about everything on your car in the Work Shop Manual at the Clark's Garage site:
