I've noticed that the passenger side mirror on my car is loose at highway speeds. Not the mirror itself (which is fine) but the whole mirror where it connects to the passenger side door. I'm assuming that i'll have to take off the inside panel but i'm not certain beyond that. I've checked my Haynes manual and the archives and can't find a procedure for tightening the whole thing. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Taking off the inner door panel will not accomplish anything. The mirror is held on by a single hex head screw that can be accessed by moving the flag portion of the mirror toward the front of the car (just push it). This will expose one of two things. Either the hex head screw will be visible, or a small plastic cap. If you find the plastic cap, pop it off with the edge of an xacto knife (or ice pick, or...) to expose the hex head. Then tighten to secure the mirror.

If the mirror is flopping in the breeze at the point where it rotates, the mirror must be removed from the car. With the mirror off, turn the assembly upside down, and you will see a hollow bolt. This holds a large spring in place and backs out over time. You will need to hold the assembly in place and using a large flat blade screwdriver press down and tighten the bolt.
