Which screw raised the beam of the headlight, the one closest to the bumper or the upper one?
The Haynes and Porsche manuals differ.

The top screw should move the headlight vertically. Screw it in for up, out for down.
As far as where to aim them, if they are really far off then park about 15 to 20 feet from a light colored wall and you get a better idea where each one is pointing. Main thing is to make sure you are not lighting up the trees or the ground by having them pointed too high or low and not blinding oncoming cars by having them pointing too far to the left.

That's what the Haynes manual shows. The shop manual indicates that you use the bottom screw to vertically align the headlight.
I took the car to a shop for headlight alignment about a year ago after I installed e-code lenses. Big improvement, but I think they're aimed a little low and I'd like to raise them just a bit without blinding anyone.

Just pull up to a wall and turn the adjustment screws and you will see which moves horizontal and vertical.
If you have DOT lenses it is really tough to aim properly without a machine. You can get them close but probably not exact.
If you have E-Code lenses it is a snap to aim due to the beam pattern of __/ That spot where the beam turns up is the aim point.
I have written a Word document for my headlight upgrade that explains how to aim E-Code. If anyone wants a copy, just drop me an email.
