Post Ready for T-belt on S2

The weather here in Michigan is going to turn soon, at least that is what I keep telling myself. I have the car in storage and plan on putting the insurance back on it and taking it out on May 1st or in that ballpark. Prior to taking it out I want to change the T-belt, water pump, and cam chain tensioner and anything else that you guys might recommend. I am a relatively experienced home mechanic and have some semi professional wrenching experience but outside of changing the oil and replacing a control arm I have not done anything to the S2 since I bought it last year. The car is a 1989 S2 with 130k on the clock. What do I need to order for this job, give me a list. Also anyone who has done this on an S2, if you feel that I will encounter anything unusual in this procedure please forwarn me now.

This will start you out on the timing (camshaft) belts:

Look around that site for more information.

Thanks for the offer, I am laid off right now so I have all the spare time in the world and 3 other cars to drive so I am not in a great hurry but I would like to have it done before the weather gets nice again and I am itching to drive it. I was looking for advice on who to order everything from and to make sure that I do not forget anything. I will let you know when I get the parts here and am ready to tear it apart. How long does this job take??

You probably should change the cam chain tensioner, or at least the top pad. A lot of them wear out at the 125-150K point and the results aren't pretty.

Changing the pad is dead easy and it costs less than a happy meal.

That is what I was told from Wiessach.
