Wire brush, soap, and water. Terry cleaned it up good when he sent it, so it was not too much work.

Another.

Here's the link to the motor build up. Lots of pics, so be chill while it fully loads.

I don't think I've posted this pic before. This was at the VW/Porsche Family Reunion '03 in Cinci. That's Jason's 924s that also caught a nice award!

All new bushings yes...

I will remove the belts, and pull out the front cap/cover/console, replace the bushing again (I removed the old and pressed in the new... could be that I did not got it in straight...)

Thanks Perry!!

Unhappy

So, this morning I dropped my housings and part # 944 101 125 02. Brian's part # is 944 101 121 07, I can see why Dave does this . I'll call my local dealer and see if I can pry any info out of him.

The part numbers I listed came directly off my reciepts... so I know they worked right on my car. I did not see any 1st over bearing shells listed in PET.

Jaime, So I picked up the bushings from the machine shop last night. I get home and notice they took a wire brush to one of the bushings. I try to test fit the balance shaft and it binds inside the housing. On closer inspection, the bushing is faceted due to being crushed . I double and triple checked the bushings by test fitting them and comparing them to the originals. The machine shop, who charged me 50$ to press the two bushings, must have pushed it in wrong and then tried to cover it up by roughing up the surface. Im going down there now to drag the guy over the counter. Good luck on yours and let me know what you find......

Me or Jiame? I went down to the "stealer" and ordered another set. The machine shop agreed to reimburse me for the bearing they messed up and refund my money for the the work but declined to try again, cant say I blame them. I tried to get the dealer to do it but they wont work on my car because its a pre 90 car. It was actually kinda funny, the guy said he would do it because it was pre 88. So I said what if I lied to you and said it was a 90 because the part # were the same thing, after a moment pause he declined because it was pre 1990. So Ill try one other machine shop and see if they will try, if they charge more than 50 bucks I'm off to Harbor Freight to purchase a press for a 100 bucks and then I can do all my own pressing.

Can anyone tell me what size the nut is for the balance shaft idler roller is? Can I buy it at a hardware store? I had bought my car while the balance belt was out and was actually delivered by the mail man as I was buying the car lol. Wasn't too familiar with 944's but after installing the belt I noticed the Idler Roller for the balance shaft was off, So i've ordered a new one but I just cannot find what size the nut is.

Not sure which nut you are referring to , but the bolt that holds the balance shaft roller is a 10 x 1.50 and the bolts that hold the cover are 8 x 1.25 and 6 x 1.00
Edit ... sorry i was thinking about the balance shaft sprocket ... the nut for the roller is also a 10 x 1.50
