Do you rebuild these clocks or just provide the kits? My light still works in mine just the LCD display is broken.

I bought this kit and installed it earlier this summer. Very easy to do (a bit of playing around getting the screen in place so it worked) I believe his kits are also on Ebay already rebuilt.

That is a standard mode of failure for these clocks. The LCD is the weak link. They are subject to humidity and vibration, over time they delaminate.

You can find them on ebay or buy them off my website here:
http://shop.914rubber.com/product.sc...&categoryId=-1

There are a couple guys that buy my kits and rebuild them to sell on Ebay. If you are somewhat handy, it's a 4 out of 10 on the difficulty scale. With patience and a little playing around you can swap them out.

It actually takes about the same amount of time to swap out the clock unit as it does to rebuild it.

My clock is working fine but has no back light. I know I can just replace the globe, but am wondering if the LED from this kit would work and be a better option ?
I will probably just get the kit anyway, for when my clock does go.

I just bought this replacement LCD. The whole job, including removal and installation from the car, took about an hour.
First, you have to get the clock out. Here is a link to a great set of instructions:
https://rennlist.com/forums/diy-subm...che-944-a.html
Next you follow the instructions emailed to you when you buy the LCD kit. I found them to be clear, but they start with the clock removed, so you will find the link above handy if you haven't removed the clock before.

The instructions for clock removal above call for completely removing the fan and temp control panel. I didn't need to go quite that far. I just removed the four corner screws, left the electrical connections on and then slipped the clock panel off from behind the right side.

It's important to watch as you disassemble the clock, and pay careful attention to how each part comes out. I had no trouble with the connections to the LCD. It all worked the first time I tested it. I was careful not to touch any of the contact areas.

The only problem I had is that the LCD light only works if installed in one of the two possible orientations. Mine didn't work until I reversed it, but the instructions clearly explain this.

The clock is finally working again after 10 years busted.

I'm adding these instructions to the PDF that I send to make it easier to reference all together.

Hey DHC, I just ordered one! My car came back from a detail shop with the digits all messed up, so the time is unreadable. I'm assuming that this can take car of that. It looks as if someone pushed a little too hard when cleaning it and busted some of the crystals or whatever they are.

Now with the back light, I found my light was just floating in there and taped on with electrical tape. Is there anyone that sells the original clip for that socket in the back of the clock? Or is there a fix for that?

Thanks again!

Hello, I am new on the board but a very long time member. Do you still have the clock rebuild kits and if not do you know where I may source the parts for the repair?
Thanks.

I will, I also have a few guys (one in Germany, and one in the UK) that have bought up a few to redistribute. I've had problems with USPS priority mail lately it has no tracking info (as they are using DHL world mail), and many have got lost. So I will be happy to ship direct, but express mail flat rate envelope seems to be the best cost.
I'll PM you the contact info for both.

I've been selling the kits mostly, as I have not had a lot of time to spare. I'll drop you an email with a link to my website.
