Default Drain hole in rear of '89 944 S2

I was re-sealing one of my tail lights and lost a nut down into the spare tire well. After getting the tire out I noticed a good sized hole, maybe 3/8 of an inch in middle of the spare tire well (you can see the garage floor straight through it). Is this intended for drainage or am I missing a rubber grommet of some sort?

Thanks,
Scott

Yup, there's a grommet that doubles as a drain that goes in that hole.

They are easily lost though and a lot of people dont have them. Not a big issue.
