Have to go against the masses here and say enjoy the fond memories.
Let others have the pleasure of getting parts from her.
As you know these cars are not cheap to keep running in top condition.
You would be dropping a ton of $$$$$ into that car to get it working and then if you want it to look good/decent you're talking paint.
More dough!

I have to agree with Plum here.. Full restoration of a 944 isn't reasonable. Go get yourself another and use parts from the oldie. You could even name this new one Frankenstein (how's that for a sexy name?)

Don't think so!

If you force him to give it back for no $, I would think that you can give up the cheap parts.

Get it back. What is $500 in the overall scheme of things? I still have the 81 accord I learn how to drive a stickshift in and the 84 corolla (my first real car with 300k miles on it). Let your kids drive it if you have kids. Think of it this way, you can always get your money back out of it if you want. I know I would.

Also, if the guy paid money for it, don't blame him and try to rip him. Talk to your parents if you want the money back. I think that's fair because if you said he obtained it illegally it may come back to your parents and if they guy wants to be nasty can always sue your parents or maybe with something criminal. Be fair if you are going to get the car back before he lien sales the vehicle, in which case he will have legal title without your signature or original title (I bought many cars with lien sale titles before). Even if you cannibalize it for your 85.5 you will come out ahead with just very few parts.

Well, I weighed the cost of trying to get her back into presentable shape and it looks like it cost more than if I just buy another early model N/A. The car runs and had a t-belt w/Pump change before I lost her. It just needs an oilpan gasket but a lot of body work will cost me.

The guy who has the car is not the one who bought it from my mom, it actually exchanged hands twice before it got there.

I have a line on a good looking 84 N/A for $2500. Iv'e driven it and it feels pretty good. It even has a bronze tint saratoga top with excellent interior and no body damage. It's alpine white so it will look good next to my S when it gets back from the shop.

I'm also shopping for a white 951 or S2 cab. If anyone knows of a good deal on either one of these let me know.

Thanks

Bought back the 1970 Dodge Challenger I bought when I was 15. Restored it then (as well as a 15 year old can) and I am restoring it again now 18 years later. Man I am getting old. I feel like I am 15 again and when I get to drive it there will be nothing else like it. I say get it back, sentimental stuff goes a long way.
