Default Power window problem

Finally got my car out of the garage and took it today but over the winter it developed a power window problem. The drivers control of the passenger window will not work to put the window down If I lower the window with the passenger side switch I can put the passenger window up fine. Any suggestion on which side to tear apart first or how to locate the problem.

More then likely switch needs to be cleaned, just went through that with wifes Volvo S-70 dirty contacts. But only my thoughts.

The switch pops out of the holder with gentle prying-no need to remove the door panel.

Repair of switch internals is possible but may not last long. Aftermarket switches available. If you take apart the switch, the internal brass and springs will pop out if not careful. Work slowly and over a table.

+1 on what John says, but I would try to spray in some electrical contact cleaner first and work the switch back and forth and spray again doing this several times. The switch wires will be out of the door so try the switch to see if it will now work. Last resort is to take it apart. Those little springs love to pop all over the place and the rocker plastic Will break if not careful.

Cheers,
Larry
