Its one of those #s if i have the same color you do. If you get a repaint i would be interested to hear how close the color match is and how much you paid for the paint and the labor. I badly need a repaint myself.

I just got my Garnet Red Metallic 1986 944 repainted. I had some minor issues with overspray, but the car basically looks fantastic. The painter used base-coat, clear-coat paint from DuPont. The color matched the original very well.
The front of my car was a mess: lot's of chips and a few spots where the clear coat was coming off. There was also a crack in the front valence that was repaired. I paid $3K for the job.
As soon as I get some film developed I'll post pics.

To find the sticker: Open the rear hatch, unattatch the carpet from the back of the rear of the hatch area(its held on by small buttons), look on the left and you will see it.

There are two different stickers; the one in the engine compartment (on the driver's side, near the fusebox on the late cars) and the option code sticker mark mentioned. The options code sticker in "the back" doesn't state the name of the color, just the code. The engine compartment sticker states the name of the color.
