Car Seat for Porsches
Hey all,
This has been a common thread, but without any good concensus on the best seat, I found my own.
The company is called Clek and they make backless and full booster seats. This Model is called the Olli and it's for kids over 40 pounds.
Retail is 99.95, so it's pricey. But it's also narrow, and has a unique feature that lets it attach to LATCH anchors in a modern car's back seats.
It's a great feature in my wife's car, but she already has another booster and the Clek is only 14" wide and 12" deep, so it will fit in sports cars:
BUT,
you will have to remove the LATCH anchors, which, as you see above, hold the booster too far forward and don't function in this or (as I understand it) even new 997's. I removed them with a Dremel cutoff wheel.
This removes the end of the rivets that attach them to the seat frame. You can then punch out the rivets. Save the anchors and you could easily affix them back to the seat with some Grade 8 bolts if you ever wanted to use them in another car.
After these are removed the seat sits all the way back on the rear seats with no overhang and plenty of kiddie room!
The strap in the front is the release that works with the LATCH anchors when they are installed.
Looking forward to using if often...
Jason
*I don't endorse the safety or sanity of removing factory equipment to modify a car seat...*

Very cool....but with no airbag, my little guy sits in the front with his regular car seat..;-)... and loves it! Calls it 'Porschy' and likes to say goodnight to her every night....cute..

nice find.
Now is that the only booster with narrow base? $99 is very pricey. I have a 3 year old and have fit the normal britax marathon in the back seat. Works, but I have to move the pass seat all the way forward to give her any let room at all. Good thing is she is in perfect hand slap range if she get out of line. HA.. still I want to get booster that will work so my wife can fit too. Those rear seats are small, but she will need boster to get the should part of the 3 pt belts in the right spot.
