Default What makes a club sport a club sport?

I've decided that I want to make the Euro 931 into a "what if" project: what if Porsche made a 931 club sport?! So I've been doing some research on the various options (and option-deletes) on a few of the different official and unofficial club sport 924/944/968 variants (like the 030 package on '88 924S "SE", the 968CS, the '79 924 "S", '80 931 "S" and '88 951 "S"), and this is what I've come up with so far:
  • M471 or M030 suspension
  • Forged lightweight wheels (e.g. trash cans or club sports)
  • Upgraded brakes (???)
  • LSD
  • Manual driver side mirror, passenger side mirror delete
  • Sunroof delete
  • A/C delete
  • Script door cards
  • Manual window regulators
  • Rear wiper delete
  • Sound deadener delete
  • Sport steering wheel (my Euro 931 has the same wheel as the 951 sport wheel...363mm 4-spoker)
  • Cloth seats OR sport seats
  • Rear seat delete (a la 968CS)
I can execute everything on this list pretty easily except for the sunroof delete. Still undecided if I want to go to that expense on this car. Anything else I should add to the list?

For example...I could do an armrest delete, and put in some simple strap-style door pulls...

What else?

M410=sportseat left and right, the manual early ones from 911 SC and turbo. Same as 924 Carrera GT and 924S LeMans(ROW).
M395=forged alloy wheels 6x16
M568=colored windshield and side windows, upper darker.
M220=limited slip differential
M018=sports steering wheel with elivated 30mm hub (Not avalible for the 924, but the 944 got it)

A bolt-in clubsport cage and SHROTH 4pt seatbelts? Lighter hood and lexan windows in the "R" version?

Good stuff, Carl! I forgot to mention that I have an extra lexan hatch I'm planning to put on this car. Probably won't bother with Lexan quarter & door windows, unless I can find 'em for REALLY cheap somewhere.

I would consider some fixed-back bucket seats ala the 968CS. Lots of weight savings to be had there. Plus they look damn cool with the fiberglass backs done in body colour.

Why? That's what they did on the 1988 924S "SE"...

Why? Porsche did make a 968 CS. Why would the designation be reserved for 911? Don't get it.

I like that idea, I'll have to search for some pix of the 968 seats, been reading about them.

Yeah, I wish I could get one that would look correct on the narrow body fender. Not sure the wide body decal would work. I'm also not too crazy about the large club sport script on the doors, but what I was considering was leaving the OEM 924 Turbo script above the RHS tail light, and then having a small version of the club sport script to go above the driver side tail light. The other thing that might be interesting would be to do a custom version of the 931 "S" decal for the hood, only have it be CS.

Does anyone know, did any of the factory street cars (924, 944, 968, 911 etc.) EVER come with non-glass windows (lexan, makralon, plexi, etc.)? I know some of the factory race cars did like the GTS/GTR, but I'm wondering about street cars specifically...

Some new goodies to help with the club sport theme:

Also had these made, all ready for the ceramic coater: one for the UWB, one for the CS, and one to put on the shelf for the eventual 941 rebuild:

The welder made a jig, so if anybody else wants one...

I meant the mirror delete, not the CS name. I just feel like the car has to be old to be able to delete the mirror. Just my opinion. Or it has to be a race car or something wild.

Ooooh, is that the bolt in roll bar that you told mentioned before??? It turned out pretty nice!
