I'd concur with removing the starter, partial disassembly and cleaning. A gum eraser will clean the contacts on the armature very nicely. If you're really pressed for time, you can try spraying some Sili-Kroil in there and crank it a few times. The stuff is amazing at freeing sticky/corroded/rusted parts...
Nice find, btw...and hope you make all your money back on those wheels, lol...barfaroni...

Similar color! Yours was actually a respectable 944.... this one was just ridiculous.

Update: Sold the car for $2k, the owner fixed a few things on it, and then sold it for $1100 for a down-payment on a newer car. Now the current owner has brought it back to me for service and to purchase a few used parts..... LOL!

How funny!

My car was pretty rough. $500 paint job that looked great in pictures. It had lots of nice stuff though like autopower roll cage, wheels, and recaro seats. I only got like $3500 for it. It had that same starting problem. You'd have to knock on the starter to start it and I went through a lot of them.
