Car is running perfect!
Absolutely no problems, so to speak, and I drive it almost every day. Not bad for a 15 year old, even if a lot of parts are younger.
Had to say it to balance all the negativity.

Mine's running great too!!!
Well....there is that little roughness when I first start it up but that goes away after a bit.
Then there is that nagging little stumble that comes at about 1.5 to 2 second intervals. Can't feel it under full throttle.
Could get ambitious and figure out where small oil seep is coming from around the oil filter.
Also need to have a cheep-o body shop replace the crushed in rear panel.
The cracked dash is annoying if I look at it too much.
The shifter is a bit loose compared to a couple of others I've tested lately.
The shifter boot never stays attached to the plastic flange thingie.
Needs a new seal around the back hatch.
One of the steering link u-joints is worn. I have another link that has a good one to replace it.
Think one of the rear spindles is bent.
The tires are getting a little thin and will need to be replaced here soon.
The transmission does grate and howl a bit in first even with fresh lube replacement.
Think the bearings in the torque tube need replaced.
Have a newer straighter front fender group to install. Will do a FUBA style antenna on the roof when I do as the drivers fender does not have the antenna cut out.
The drivers seat hold down nuts are pulling and need to be re-welded.
I need to run the fourth wire for the newer electric mirrors. The direction control switch is wired different than the pre 85.5's.
The back carpet needs to be replaced as well as the top section of the back seat.
There's a tear in the rear headliner.
I really have to pull the battery up and re seal under it. Doesn't rain much here in the summer.
Rear side speakers need to be replaced.
The fresh air blower speed control resistor blew out -- again. Thinking of an electronic speed control here.
The odometer stopped working years ago. Could "can open" it and fix it.
Need to put the rear sway bar on I salvaged from the 86 donor car. Along with the Koni rear shocks.
The A/C never did work for long.
There's that strong gas smell from a fill up. Have to replace the hoses from the filler to the top of the gas tank the next time I drop the transmission.
Had to put a leather cover on the Emerson Fittipaldi Signature steering wheel I got with my second 924 back in 1979.
Oh well...

Very funny SoCal - I just got paid so you better hit me up for $50 IOU before I get to autofest and blow all my cash!
Peckster - THANK YOU! <img src="graemlins/beerchug.gif" border="0" alt="[cheers]" />
Most of us post only when things go wrong so when outsiders drop by they get the impression that the 944 is a PITA.

I could post something that's not a complaint, but I will not tempt the Porsche gods. This isn't superstition, it's something I have proved empirically with double-blind experiments.
NEVER say anything nice about a car's reliability.

Come on guys you have to admit that for old cars these things are pretty damn reliable..and even if they weren't, I would rather replace every single piece of this car than to EVER try and work on my sister's Mitusubishi Eclipse again..You think timing belts on 944s are hard? You have to nearly pull the engine to do it on a FWD car..I haven't had to tear deep into my engine yet but I've done other things like motor mounts, control arms, the entire power steering system, fuel lines, brake lines, don't remember what else right now...a little expensive for parts, yes, but dealer parts vs dealer parts, the stuff for my Porsche is actually cheaper than the Mitsubishi by a significant amount...
Compared to everything else I've worked on nothing is as easy as working on this car..I actually don't mind it much at all..one set of wrenches..not 8 billion different sizes...and no other car is as much fun to drive!

I don't want to tempt fate anymore than to say that mine really hasn't pissed me off in quite a while.
And still makes me smile just to look at it, even more to romp on it......... <img src="graemlins/jumper.gif" border="0" alt="[jumper]" />
I hope this doesn't come to bite me in the ***!!!!!
