Default KLA Strut brace question

Silly question...

I recently picked one of these up and would like to install it.

The KLA instructions are as follows:

1) Remove 4 nuts holding strut assembly to the body.

2) Place bracket over studs with bracket upright toward rear of car.

3) Replace washers and nuts. Tighten to 18 ft-lbs. using an X pattern.
4) Repeat for other side of car.
5) Install bar on passenger side bracket and tighten. Hardware order is-bolt/washer/bracket/bar/washer/lock washer/nut. Install the bar to the REAR(firewall side) of the bracket.
6) Repeat for driver's side.
7) Turn bar to take up "slack". Tighten backing nuts.
8) Disclaimer time. Shut the hood gently to test clearances. DO NOT DROP OR SLAM THE HOOD! All cars are different and the strut brace may fit differently on your car. This is not a problem with 99.9% of the cars. But, KLA Industries will not be responsible for any damage. If you do have a fitment problem, please email or call so we can help determine where the problem is and help you solve it (digital pics in email are very helpful in these situations). If we can't get things just right to your satisfaction, we will let you return the strut brace for a refund.
9) You're done!
I assume that with the struts loaded (eg...car's weight on the strut) I can take the nuts off and nothing will happen?

Also...who here has one on their S2....assuming the hood closes but do you have any adjustment tips??

TIA

Joe

Yes, you can remove the nuts while the car is on the ground without issue. I do it all the time.

J Berk, do be careful with those bolts: they're soft, and strip incredibly easily!
On my S, I had to be a little creative with washers to be sure the bar ran neatly between the runners of the intake (any contact will wear the intake, not the bar).

The bar should be adjusted to apply a slight outward pre-load to the strut towers. This is done after the bolts are tight. Use caution, too much pre-load will affect the chamber setting.

Sure. Just wear goggles. (Kidding, the struts won't go anywhere.) I actually bought my KLA bar used and installed the whole thing in one piece and then played with the slack. So the pressure should be out (pushing strut towers apart)? That's not what I did. Easily fixed, though.
