Arrow New Tensioners and Rollers: Tight when new??

I noticed that the new tensioners and rollers I got from Zims don't spin nearly as smoothly as the used ones from my car. The new ones don't even spin a whole revolution without stopping! Do they loosen up with usage or will putting them on my car be asking for trouble? Did anybody notice this too?

My old ones spun pretty freely. I think you're ok as long as the new ones spin smoothly with no binding or rough spots.

I had the same thing with all my rollers when I got them. I was told that it was normal and they would loosen up... so far so good. About 900 miles and nothing broken yet

I think you're safe with what Pete said about no binding or rough spots, however; not to try to scare you, but, my brand new tensioners spun very freely, several revolutions.

New tensioners have something that the old, worn out ones don't...grease. That's what you feel as dragging. If the tensioner spins freely then the grease has all gone, it'll still work, but you're running on borrowed time.

You're just feeling the grease and the normal tolerances there. Nothing to worry about. I would be much more skeptical if they spun very freely out of the box. That is usually a sign that the grease is gone and the bearing shortly thereafter.

Egads! Now I'm scared. Mine were purchased at the dealer and came in little baggies with a part number sticker on them. Do you think both tensioners were defective?

You'll also notice (at least I did, and others confirmed it) a diffent "whine" from the engine for the first couple hundred miles...Not really louder, just...different. It freaked me out at first, and I queried the boards, and found that it was normal..I too have gone 1000 miles and have had no issues...
