If you can go to richmond there is a great shop... David Word automotive, its a european luxury import shop. They are the only people other than me who work on my car.

LAFB,

I am taking mine in to Derek @ Abacus end of next week, I'll let you know what I think.

My personal experience thus far, is real good mechanics for these cars are few and far between....and in between few and far insert a bunch of wasted dollar signs. PM me if you want to know my experiences=save you a few headaches and alot of $$$$$.

Thanks CPR, I sent you a PM. I think I have already begun to experience the $$$ part. Just the tip of the iceberg I'm sure.

Hi INURGL951. Things busy as usual for us. It's kinda crazy lately, some IT contracted jobs are actually now going back to civil service..I'm sure it will change back again.

Got the 951 home this evening. Have to say that I am very impressed with the guys (Kevin and Gene) at Autowerks in Charles City, VA. They are Pro's all the way and know their stuff. Only 45 minutes from me so I'll be taking it back to finish off some other things I need done. Guess I should have got that pre inspection before buying this car, but still not a bad buy at all. I think this car is going to be a lot of fun.

There's a cruise-in every Saturday at Jenro's. It runs most of the year - only when it starts getting cold is when it stops. I'm usually out there, but I'm not always in the 951. Unfortunately, it will be a little while before it's out there again. Jenro's should be starting again very soon; it's at 1085 Independence Boulevard in Virginia Beach and people usually start showing up around 3pm.

LAFB, glad to hear you had a good experience over at Autowerks. But that was quick, what did you have them do? My 944 spent a good couple weeks over there, but then again I had them do the belts, rollers, water pump, oil cooler, and some other stuff. I actually gotta hit them up for a belt tensioning sometime this next week. Anyway, glad you were impressed with their work.

And CurtP, is this cruise-in open to all 944s? I got some friends in that area and I was plannin on visiting them sometime this summer, and if yall are doing it while I'm down that way I could join you?

That is just a raised nose panel to house a bigger intercooler it would not fit under the stock panel.

I had belt/pump service, front seals, motor mounts, aux water pump, bunch of other items. I think I'm well on my way to a healthier toy. I found the original maintenance Porsche book in the car, it had 3 initial oil change entries written in from the late '80's..LOL..That's it! Cleaned it up nice today, and also put new plugs in it. At least the old plugs showed normal type wear/colors. It looks so nice in the garage, but wifes car is now doing time on the driveway..This can't be good.I'm sure I'll pay.
Looking forward to a get together.
