Rear engine has nothing to do with it. I do like the plan the OP has in mind. Should be kind-of cool.
How about some pics!

What is the point of owning a porsche? The badge on the hood, or having fun owning a well handling, well built, inexpensive (for what you get) sports car, being able to customize it any way you want?

Obviously there is a HUGE difference between spending 4k on aftermarket turbo equipment / internals that were never installed at the factory and spending 4k on a LS motor which was never installed at the factory.

Kem,

You know I was looking for a 911. But after all the cars I saw and the problems with buying, transporting and other telling cars were not worth it. I decided at the GTG to keep my 944 and give it a kick. I am getting many upgrade from Lindsey Racing. I took their best packages they had and a short shift. We expect 300+ hp after this is done. I am very happy with my choice and expect to keep my cars for a long time. No more 911 asperations, just 928 and 944 fun.

oh noez not another purebreed pissing contest. do whatever you want to the car. put a chevy lump in it, put a diesel in it. who cares. just enjoy it and keep the purebread stuff in the concours corner.

as far as what the OP is doing, when i bought my firs 944 - the famous red S2 i had already looked at a few cars and had a buddy with me who summarized the transaction this way:

get a NA for free and do all the improvements the S2 has and it will cost you more than the price of the S2, and it will have a resale of nothing. buy the S2 and you have something you can sell later - or in my case fight with the insurance company over later.

rare colors dont add value. sell what you have and use the money to buy something already done that you can get out of quickly. as far as sleeper - that's just dopey unless you are street racing some rice.

I'd supercharge the 928 and leave the 944 as is.

I am not doing this for value added. I do what I want and How I want to do it. These cars are not investments. If they were I would not enjoy them as much as I do. Every decision would be money related and not for the enjoyment. Look past money and see the fun in this project. Imagine the looks on when all they see is an NA, and not seeing what really lies within. I could have just sold the car and bought a 996 or 997. Not much into doing that.

Kem, yes both cars will be dirrerence. My 928 has been painted and looks great. see you soon.
