Third Ender's Game.
If you like sci-fi you're going to love this book, you're not going to put this book down. If you hate sci-fi, same thing...maybe put it down once to ****. But thats it. Best ending I have ever read.
After that read Ender's Shadow for a twist on the perspective. Great books!

I really enjoyed 1984 by George Orwell.
I also just finished the Lord of the Rings trilogy, and found it far superior to the movies (and I loved the movies!)
I also really liked Catch 22 by Joseph Heller. It's about WWII and the numerous shananigans one soldier goes through.
A Catcher in the Rye is always a classic, and for some great satire read Jonathan Swift's "A Modest Proposal"
Unfortunately, most of the books I have to read for English class flat out suck <img border="0" title="" alt="[Frown]" src="frown.gif" />

"The Things They Carried"....I can't say it's the best book I've read but it was interesting. If you want to read good combat stories...read "Black Hawk Down" or "We Were Soldiers Once, And Young"
