Unhappy DME Problem Late 944

Car would not start and problem was traced to a bad DME. Purchased a reconditioned one for $ plus the defective one. Car still would not start and problem traced to bad reconditioned DME. Item returned and installed and car started. Days later the started became defective and was replaced but car would not start although engine turns with vigor.
Problem appears to be a bad DME. Any thoughts?
I was trying to purchase the DME from another source but they say they need more than part number, make, model and VIN number, they need the BOSCH number from the original DME which I do not have. Why is this necessary? Help!!

Hi Alfletch,

Sorry to hear about all your trouble. What year/model do you have. I have recently taken the DME out of my 1987 944, it has Bosch PN 0 261 200 077. Porsche PN 944.618.121.04.

Good luck,

David
