I drove 100 miles at 65mph on the original spare in my 1980 931 a year and a half ago.
They work just fine!

I just sold my spare for my 951...not going to run with one. AAA or a cell phone. That and I don't take the 951 on too long of road trips anyways (except the fest!)

I have used them on previous 944's in the past with no problem. Although now all of mine are in mint undriven condition and I don't want to use them lol. I will just use a cell phone if there is a problem.

I used mine a few years ago without incident. They seem to last forever, but if you really wanted to, you could replace it with the inflatable spare from a 996 or 986.

Mine is a show car and I want to keep the original as is. Trying to get ideas for real world driving.

I have used the stock spare a at least twice. Same tire and I used it twice. No big deal. It got me home both times despite being 20years old. Of course no sense in pushing the tire in any way.

You could always buy a 'spare' spare and use the good one for shows. The OE spare works great. I even have an OE compressor that still works.
