Just so you know, the 88 Turbo S had 26.8mm front, 18mm rear bars whereas the 89 Turbo (no S designation in 89) had 26.8mm front, 16mm rear. The 19mm rear bar (944-333-701-01-M100) came with the M030 package on 968s. There was a 30mm front bar on that setup. Cheers!

Correction the rear sway bar is a 18mm. Thanks for the correction. It was hard to decide what size they were because of the meter I was using. I knew for sure that the front was 26.5 and the rear was either 18 or 19mm.

Anyone want to 'splain why Porsche saw fit to downsize the rear sways on the 89 T? Had one, swapped it out. Guy with an 86 took the set and realized the rear was not an upgrade. Huh?

They wanted the cars to have some inherent understeer (safe for the street). Must have developed some concerns that the 88TS cars could be induced into power-on oversteer, so early in the production run of the MY89 cars, they dropped the rear swaybar from 18mm to 16mm. My June 88 built MY89 (VIN #144) came with an 18mm rear. My Sep 88 built MY89 (VIN #503) came with a 16mm bar.

Stock bars on a non-S turbo were 25.5 front, 18mm rear for 87-88. The '86T had the same 18mm rear, but a 24mm (?) solid front bar. So the Turbo S rear bars (18 or 16) are not an upgrade for any stock turbo. The front 26.8 is.
