A few problems
Before my car warms up, it's not happy. Goes from like 600-900 rpm, doesn't stall but isn't happy. I ordered plugs and wires today. Forgot to order air filter. Car's running rich enough to smell. About how long do fuel filters last? Dist cap&rotor? Small valve tick. How long do water pumps last? Where can I get it rebuilt, and about how much does it cost? Any place on line where I can order some stuff? Drivers side window works up and down, passenger side window work occassionally - gremlin? Sorry for the stream of conscienceness

Also, the door handles are no good. You have to find the right spot to open them, think that's something I should fix or just order a new handle? This is all in an 83 944

also, sounds like your "valve ticking" is actually your fuel injectors, everyone here can back me up on this. if it was a valve, you'd KNOW it, its either a valve or its fuel injectors

Also, the odometer is broken because I guess a previous owner reset the trip clock and it screwed the gears. Any rebuild kits, or whole new cluster?

7mm ID, 12mm OD

dont worry about the ticking, if it's only noticeable with the hood up, its the fuel injectors. nothing will silence them, its just an attribute of fuel injection in our cars.
as far as the odo,, there is a gear replacement for ... but if you don't want to screw with it
i have a spare one, showing 54 something on the clock actual mileage is 154,xxx $50 if you like, or you can find that gear and try to fix it yourself. the guages just push out of the back of the dashboard.
happy fixin!
good luck!

Shop around for parts, prices and service vary. Lots of people here prefer Paragon at http://www.paragon-products.com/

the ticking is a little nerve racking, and I am running rich. I haven't replaced my air filter yet, but I'm hoping I won't run so rich when I do.

Sounds like you have an intake leak after the throttle-body somewhere...
