944s2 Maintenance & Upgrades
This December/January has been a very interesting time for me and my Porsche. The car is a 1989 944s2 with 112,xxx miles that I have had for 15 years. This December I began to think it might be best to put the car up for sale. I use it only in the good weather and about 70% of it's miles are street, 30% track.
The economy has hurt my business as much as others, so putting money into the car was not a priority. My wife and I spent several "date" nights talking about selling the car putting the $ aware for a new Porsche or putting some $ into this one and keeping for many more years.
Two weeks ago I came to a decision....."drum roll".... we decided to keep the car and put some $ into it.
Here's the list.
Maintenance:
1. Air filter
2. Fuel filter and flexible lines
3. Belts, rollers, tensioner (cam chain tensioner done at 80,xxxmiles)
4. New stone guards (Pelican Parts)
5. Performance friction "race" brake pads (rotors replaced last summer)
Upgrades:
1. Front coil over kit with 200# springs (Paragon Products)
2. Performance ball joint kit (Rennbay)
3. Strut brace (KLA)
4. Front and rear speaker replacement
5. Front splitter (CPR)
6. Lower car (keeping stock torsion bars for now)
The car already has Koni adjustable struts, 968 caster blocks, 30mm hollow front sway bar, 19mm adjustable rear sway bar, braided steel brake lines.
I'm looking forward to the weather warming a bit so I can get the woork done and more so, looking forward to how the car drives after getting it all done.
I have most of the parts, just need warmer temps to go out to the garage.

I'd like to see the front splitter...or a link to it somewhere. Never heard of that brand.
Why did you go with the the race brakes....do you track it? Be careful of dust sticking to the body and rusting....it's happened to my car, but it's 90% rack so I live with it.

Steve,
Here is the web site for the splitter www.944-951parts.com I purchased the V1 version.
Yes I do track the car. I like the Perf Fric pads quite a bit and have been using them for approx 10 years. I try and keep the dust cleaned off, however this is part of the reason I am replacing the stone guards.
