Cool! It worked. Next I'll put up pictures of the Sparco wheel and what I had to do to make it fit an airbag car.

That car is beautiful. I have a reddish 951 and have thought for years about changing the color to basically exactly what you have. I am also interested in what the actual color name is.

There is something about the sun's rays and the color red here in florida. Red cars fade fast.

I'm originally from FL where my official car color was Gaurds Orange!

Might I recommend the use of a car cover to ameliorate the deleterious effects of UV radiation on your paint? -- works for me!

That sounds like an Al Sharpton way of saying that if you use a cover, your paint won't fade... <img src="graemlins/roflmao.gif" border="0" alt="[hiha]" />

Looks like Fikse FM10's to me....Those are my dream wheels. They are so beautiful, but so expensive.

Thanks for the kind words, you guys. The color is Baltic Blue...I believe it was an extra-cost optional color, not a special order shade. The paint's pretty good, but it has the typical stone-chipped rocker panels that will need some attention.

Yep, the wheels are Fikse FM/10s. Christmas came early, and I bought myself a very extravagant present! I'm moving up to a more competitive auto-X class next year, so I wanted to optimize the car with light wheels. They're 17 x 8 front, 17 x 9 rear and have (I think) 56.6-mm offset, with 225/45-17 & 245/45-17 Falken Azenis tires. The wheels weigh about 16 lb. front, 17 lb. rear, according to my highly accurate bathroom scale.
I really like how the rim-half bolts screw in from the back for a clean appearance.

Wow. That thing looks gorgeous. I thing that has to be one of the best 944 photos I have seen. The lighting is just perfect.

Thanks, JAX! The sweet SoCal sunset light helps a bunch. It also helps that Porsche has designed such a great-looking car.

Nice photo! I like how the reflection ot the sunset is set up such that the horizon lines up with the side mouldings!

Hey has anyone noticed that the rear wheels aren't centered in the wheelwell openings? They're a little forwards and it's really noticeable when you have larger-than-stock diameter wheels. My 275/40-17 tires ended rubbing on the FRONT of the fender rather than the top like you would think...

Thanks Danno! I lucked out with the timing of sunset. See how the sun itself refelcts right on the end of the rub strip?

You're right about the rear wheel position, esp, noticeable in a straight profile shot. Thought my car was just an abberation, but I've seen it on other 944s. A slip of the slide rule in Porsche engineering? Or maybe our 944s were "Monday" builds on the Neckarsulm line!

Here's another shot:

That last shot is now my desktop wallpaper....

What a sweet looking machine!

BTW, when I first moved to FL in 97 the car was red, bright red. The paint faded over 3 months! It just died...since 99 the gar has been garaged, but the paint is toast. Not to mention when I would park my car at work, it would cook in the sun. I notice paint damage on all red cars out here. My buddies new Vette even has an issue, and that is the most waxed, and covered car I know!

Baltic blue is beautiful! <img src="graemlins/wave.gif" border="0" alt="[byebye]" />

Thanks T951! I'm feeling so good about my car now! I needed the boost...spent the last 12 hours "getting a start" on a clutch job for my friend's 951. Man, you have to disassemble the entire car to do it. Work ended today when we stripped on of the pressure plate's 12-point fasteners (of course, it was the last one my friend tried to break loose).
Neat to see the tranny out of the car, though...it's a heavy sucker!!!
