Post What does a bad torque tube sound like?

Here are my symptoms:

When in a low gear such as first or second I can hear a raspy noise coming from what seems to be the rear of the car. The noise is only evident when power is applied to the car. Coasting or disengaging the clutch causes the sound to disappear. I can especially hear it the most when the engine is b/w 3-4K rpms with slight feathering of the throttle. If the car is in neutral and I rev the engine, there is no noise.

Since the noise is caused by power application to the drivetrain, I'm assuming the something in the drivetrain is amiss.

But then again, could this sound be normal?

Any clues?

Sounds like rear wheel bearings to me. I just HAPPENED to start hearing my torque tube YESTERDAY! One of my bearings howls a bit at 3k RPM in any gear, clutch engaged or disengaged...doesn't matter. Heh, I was actually about to post a topic. I've had the typical 3k RPM vibration problem since the clutch was replaced ~50k miles ago and now I'm hearing a torque tube bearing. Not good.
