If you have a local alt/starter repair shop, take it in. Might get a cheap fix.

What is cheap? They charge $30 minimum labor at my local alternator shop.

Have them refurbish (i.e. clean up) the starter, replace the solenoid and pinion gear. I had this done at a local shop in Minneapolis for $60.

So, take the solenoid off yourself and take it to the shop and see if they will sell you one.

they said they don't have one. No one seems to have one. I've called several parts places that I usually get parts from and all they have is the complete starter.

Your guys are Bozos. Although the starter in our configuration is rather unique in that it turns the opposite way than the standard Bosch starter in that shell.

If you want I can get my local place to order up the parts, but that really shouldn't be necessary. There must be a place local to you that can get the parts.

EDIT: I just called my voltage regulator suppliers and I can get the parts drop shipped to you - that would probably be about $5 bucks or so. The solenoid is $25 and the whole gear assembly that includes the pinion gear is $15. So $40 plus shipping. Let me know if you want me to order for you.
