i think Porsche put the number of switches and holes as a contingency for accessories that may have been in the planning stages, or not... so, they had their vendor produce a one-console-fits-all -- but, on each final mock-up, they never quite got there, as the car was always famous for being left, incredibly fun to drive and under-equipped. the goodies ended up in the 928. that's what i've always thought.

what do i got, like four switches, auto-lock, sunroof, rear wiper and something else that i don't know, and a pair of blanks, something like that. nothing to lose any sleep over. after i spend a trillion dollars keeping the engine and the accessories running, i'm...

Mirrors and locks.

When I was rebuilding the main harness, I almost put the window switches in the center console. I thought it would eliminate some complexity in the doors and eliminate one of the three door window switches. But I had 4 switches (sunroof, mirror, rear wipers, PDL). I have a fader, but it's not installed and isn't going to be. What stopped me is I wanted to put the window switches on either side of the panel, so the passenger window switch would have gone where the fader goes. But that one opening is different than the rest. Plus I didn't want to give up any of my accessories.

Looking back now, I should have wired the mirror selection switch to the driver's door and moved the door window switches to the console with the window switches side-by-side. I think I'm going to use the fader blank-off panel and make it into an aux input.

I have never been really happy with the switch layout in my car. They seem to be scattered. Why is the rear wiper switch on the console, the rear wiper delay on the dash and the rear defroster on the dash? I should have rewired those more logically too (rear wiper on the dash and rear defroster on the console).

Cars with headlight washers have a unique multi-switch (turn signals, wipers, cruise control stalks) that includes a function for headlight washing. I think you push down on the washer stalk but don't remember for sure.

On Euro cars, the headlight angle adjustment goes where the fader switch is on US models.

I'm still seriously considering doing this. The window switches are a funky set up. They would be much easier on the center console. Same with the mirror joy stick.

Then you could clean up the door panels more for a nice clean look.

How does "headlight adjust" work? Is this a "city light" kind of thing, or does it physically move the lights?
