Red face Noisy Spiders

My 1988 n/a 944 has developed a click click click when going around a turn. Then if I drive it far enough straight it quites down a little bit but the moment I turn its back to a loud click click click.

Everyone that has listened to it says its spiders?

Questions:

1- Is it spider gears?
2- What is involved in changing spiders?
3- was told to just change out diff? Opinion?
4- is it time to rebuild the complete trans?
5- ??? What else is there to say? I look to the group for advice. <img border="0" alt="[icon107]" title="" src="graemlins/icon107.gif" />
