Default 1986 944 electrical problem / interior lights

Hi Everyone,
Replaced the lift roof micro-switch and now have the roof operating proplerly( I think). Now there is another set of issues that are present. Here is the overview.

The cockpit light remains on at half bright constantly when the switch is in the 'actuate when a door is open' position- had to switch to the full 'off' position to extinguish. This started after re-installing the lift-roof and central locking system fuses in the central electric.

The cargo area light remains on at full bright constantly when the switch is in the 'actuate when a door is open' position- had to switch to the full 'off' position to extinguish. . This started after re-installing the lift-roof and central locking system fuses in the central electric.

The cargo area light remains on at full bright constantly when the headlights are on even though the switch is in the full 'off' position - there is no workaround for this as of yet.

Any ideas?
Cheers
Ed

Did this all start after the micro-switch was installed? It almost sounds as if you have a ground problem or the door switch needs to be cleaned with elect contact cleaner and or replaced.

Cheers,
Larry

I just fixed this on mine. Open your rear hatch and look at the right rear (passenger) lifting shock. On the top of the shock there is a wire that connects to the window defrost element. On the shock you should see a small metal contact strip that is touching the chrome part of the rod. Normally, when your hatch is closed, the black part of the shock has a plastic sleeve on it which slides under this contact strip and "ungrounds" it. That plastic gets distorted and will no longer slip under that contact. This allows the interior light to come on when you open the door, and also allows your windows to operate, after you kill the ignition switch, until you open a door. Try shoving a small piece of cardboard under that contact and see if it solves your problem. You have to replace the right hatch shock or try to repair that plastic sleeve on the black part of the shock.
