How to ground myself (dash cleanup)
I pulled a couple of tech articles from Pelican, etc. and am going to tackle replacing dash light bulbs and general cleanup.
<a href="http://www.pelicanparts.com/techarticles/944_taillight/944_gauge_problems.htm" target="_blank">http://www.pelicanparts.com/techarticles/944_taillight/944_gauge_problems.htm</a>
The articles strongly suggest that I "ground myself" as I perform the work.
For fear of sounding like an idiot: how exactly do I do this?
Also, any tips from people who have done this before?
Thanks!

Touch some piping in your house (assuming you dont have the plastic junk)...or touch the power supply of your computer (fan thing on the back)...basically you need to rid yourself of any electric charge so you dont blow up any tiny sensitive components.
Don't rub your feet on carpet afterwards either

Just go to Radio Shack and buy a grounding wrist strap, less than $5. Place aligator clip on a ground point and the other end on your wrist and proceed with your work. If you were here in Colorado I'd just give you one.
good luck

also, if you can try to not touch any electrical parts. Try handling the parts my the boards, not by the electrical components. The grounding wrist strap is a little over board unless you live in a really dry area or your working on really $$$ computer systems, ie craig, SGI,
If you are working the parts, while still in the car, just touch the cars ground. Repeat this ever few minutes, or every time you move around or get in and out of the car. other wise you should be fine.
if you are working the parts outside the car, try just handling the parts the the main boards, and if you should need to do work on the componets ground yourself on a metal piping like adrial said.
