Cool How Many Automatic Owners Out There?

Seems to be more of you here on the forum then I can recall in the last 2 years. How are your trannys holding up? Mine's an 88 with 95K miles on it, and the only thing I have done to date is the flex disc.

I'm curious about the lifespan of our trannies. How about everyone state your year, current mileage and what, if any, work you have had done?

87 944 na
new flex damper
110k miles
I bought the car after an engine fire . I replaced the filyter and fluid when I had it out. I have only put about 5k miles on it. I have been told that it is an Audi transmission.
I have also heard a rumor that someone put an Audi 4 speed auto in one. I would like to find out more about the swap to a 4 speed.

Timmer's got a 1988 NA 944 Auto with a bad flex disc and in need of motor mounts. Pitstop Motorsports is so far in the lead for the lowest estimate....plus they're closer to my house.

Got 44K miles on it.

Rock on, but only after I get my car back from the shop.

I have a 87 and an 88 auto n/a. The 87 has about 90k and the 88 has about 80k.The 88 is a little more fun to drive because of the additional hp. I have driven an 83 n/a since new and I have gotton lazy and love the auto with power steering.

i'm gonna say my 83 and 84 are WAY more fun than the auto (even with no ps in the 83, but the auto is still fun too)

the po broke the odo gear at 104k who knows when on the 85.5 auto, so the est. mileage is between 150-180k, and the transmission shifts smoooooooth. i tend to flog that car a bit as i'm used to the better acceleration of the stick shifts. all in all the auto's not bad. the trans has been holding for a year.

also, i got a good used flex disk at ianseuroparts.com the guys there are good, you may have to get on em to ship the part, but they are reasonably priced and the service (other than sometimes forgotten shipping) is good

they come in all shapes and (sometimes faded) colors, but i love em all!

happy driving <img src="graemlins/yltype.gif" border="0" alt="[typing]" />

I have an 87 auto with 120,000 miles. I think the flex disk is original. It leaks ATF, but shifts fine. Nowhere near the fun of my 87 951.

Right now, I am waiting for an oil pan gasget to fix the oil leak. After that, I will attack the power steering leak, then the coolant leak, then the windshield washer leak. Thankfully the brake fluid is still holding...

Cool

Mine's an '89 n/a a/t w/160K miles. No transmission work other than maintenance. Seeps AT fluid a bit but pretty much always has.
