Post Fuel Sender replacement

In my gas tank it appears the Baffol, where the fuel sender slides into, has been jarred loose. There are three slots for the baffol to lock into the base. Is there a trick to make this work?? I can only get one in max, the other three will not snap into place.
Will solving this problem stop the large fluctuations in the gas gauge that I am experiencing with this new fuel sender?

Thanks in advance
S.

Your speaking of the sender that is inserted into the top of the fuel tank? That is the only sender I am aware of, you should have no problem putting it back in.
