Have just done the aluminium foil job on my dash lights, and it has made an amazing difference. The next thing I'm going to try is putting stage light gel sheet between the reflector and the bulb, this way I think I can go for a higher wattage bulb maybe 5 watt, as the gel sheets are designed to withstand high temperatures,I'm going to bench test this idea before I put bezel back in car I'll let you know the result.Gels come in many different colours and can be purchased from any disco supply shop. also good for colouring cruising lights etc

If you are going to bench test better put some covering over things to simulate the restricted air flow conditions in the dash. I know for a fact that 5 watt bulbs will start to melt the plastic in real world installed operation.

Point taken. I will try 3w bulbs first, but if they arent bright enough to get through the tinted gel I'll probably run a hair dryer into the area at low temp as well, to make absoutely sure, bearing in mind I'm in spain and the ambient temperature at the moment is in the 90s The bezel wont be going back until I'm absoutely sure.

This was done by someone else and he posted it a few days ago. Remove dash bezel then on the btm of the bezel you will see the 3 reflectors you have to heat the 2 lugs at the widest point to remove them . Use acetonr to remove reflective material. (nail varnish remover) then I polished up the plastic with chrome cleaner ( solvol autosol) After this use clear silicone spread thinly with your finger to stick aluminium foil onto Do not put foil onto the uncoated side of the reflector it doesnt work (dont ask)!! Hope this helps
