Post Rattle from Exhaust

I have a rattle from the exhaust system. When I tap the system with a rubber hammer it seems to be coming from the cat. Anyone had this and are there any plates in the cat that can come loose?

Check a couple of things.

there is a heat shield at the very front of the cat, is it loose <common>

also the cat has a heat sheild running full length totally encasing it, its spot welded is that loose.

Above the cat is a matal sheeting, is that ok.

Are all the clamps and hangers fine, ie the noise is it cos the catis hitting something else.

IF the sound appears to be coming from within the cat, looks like, the element is loose or broken.

A diff cat usally makes a whistling sound !
