Got new crossdrilled rotors in mail
I ordered new rotors and they finally came in. I am going to put them on this weekend, new pads as well. Is there anything else you guys think I should do while I am in there? Wheel Bearings? What kind of bearing grease is good for this? These rotors are simply stock replacements for the originals, they look cool even if they dont help the braking any. Pictures to follow.

Are these genuine Porsche or oem vendor replacements? If they aren't in Porsche boxes you may want to mask the braking surface, and spray the rest of the area with grey hi temp paint. This will prevent unsightly rust. Factory parts are coated somehow and don't rust.

They are zimmerman rotors. I don't know if these are the ones that need to be painted. They seem to be well coated with some sort of stuff that is very messy on my hands when I handle them.

Damian is correct on the zimmermans,,sand, clean and paint the hub part,,high heat dark grey or black,,couple of coats should do it.
If you haven't changed the rotors in a while, tap on the phillips head screws while you twist.

I recently had cross drilled rotors put on my car and if you are thinking of gaining benefit for current or future track use I would put on a set of steel braided brake lines. It is a rather cheap expense that can save a lot of time sliding off of the track due to brake fade. I think I paid about $65.00 for a set of 4.

Since my car is an NA I am not looking for it to be a race car. I just drive my P car for the pure style and cool factor. This probably belongs in the "What my car means to me" thread but oh well. The cross drilled definately look cool, if they improve braking or not I dont care. I hope they at least work as good as stock. I am going to put the steel brake lines in too and change the fluid.

Do what Damian suggested.Remove first all of grease.Paint with high temp pait.Rotors which are not painted will rustreal fast.I changed rotors a year ago (painted them) and they still look like new.

Steel brake lines give you good solid pedal feel for better brake modulation. I don't think they improve fade characteristics.

I am definately going to paint them. I think you all made a good point. Now I need to decide what color to paint them. Do you think if I paint them yellow or red that would be too rice? My car is white btw.

There are so many places to buy ss lines. Who has the good ones?
performanceprocucts has welts for 69.00
pelican has dot ss lines for 65.00
vertex has them for 45.00
I am not against paying the full wad for 69.00 brake lines if it is worth it. PLease help me on this one if you have experience buying these products.
Also... how much brake fluid do I need to do a complete change of fluid? I have ABS.
Thanks,

Yes - black, gray, or silver
Just my opinion... <img src="graemlins/a_smil17.gif" border="0" alt="[blabla]" />
