The name of the game for the rear mounted setups is proper sizing of the turbine...

naw, properly it would have the DME dialing ignition back 30degrees and extra 20% fuel on no-load. hehe

They've made a lot of money off of it...
Haven't heard anything bad about thier kits either from people who have installed them (ie. failing parts, etc.)
But like I said, it has its disadvantges and I'd never do it on one of my cars.

The NA has a ton of space in the engine bay, don't really see the point of putting the turbo in the back.

I have seen this kit on an old Mercedes 500SL, a 2004 Mustang GT, and I believe a Viper, IIRC. All of them were custom made kits, with great performance numbers.

There was somebody on Pelican who made a remote turbo setup on a 944, using PVC pipe as the long intercooler pipes. I'll look for the thread, it was pretty interesting.

Because it's the easiest way to add a turbo with respect to modifying the exhaust. Granted, you could get a 951 setup, BUT, we all know there's more entailed to slapping a 951 setup than just the exhaust and turbo. The rear mounted option would be very easy to implement with a minimum of fuss, from an exhaust engineering perspective.

I'm not advocating for the rear mount setup, mind you. I just find it interesting, and the several articles I've read plus the special on SpeedVision a couple of years ago were all very complementary. I don't think STS is funded well enough to buy them all off, but I could be wrong

Also, on the early 2.0L NA cars, where there is virtually no available alternative, the STS approach is compelling...although few 2.0L NA guys are willing to spend that kind of money on their cars

Actually I don't think lag would be much of an issue so long as the system was properly matched. The pressure build up is almost instantaneous. On off response may suffer? It would be interesting to go in an n/a 944 that had this done all the same.

Who's going to be the first to step up to the plate. $2k is cheap....

This is a very respectable company... Some of the Fastest cars in the world have remote turbo systems.
Most turbo vipers have remote turbo setups and run very strong.

this is a contrarian set up but the difference is marginal in terms of fluid mechanics. the length of plumbing required makes me want to barf. pass.
