ISV cleaning..... again! oh no!!!!!!
a few months ago i cleaned the isv in the 85.5 944 that we have. yesterday it started doing the same thing it was before i cleaned it... THIS SUCKS... so i cleaned it again and put it all back together, now its fine. i wonder how long it will take to crap up again, i dont want to have to do all that work again! i will however say that the fact that i took out the air box and put in the cone helped to get the intake manifold off considerably, it was still a pain. anyone else experience this?
by the way the intake noise through the cone is INCREDIBLE!!!! it almost drowns out all the rattles the car has developed over the years
oh well i love the thing! and if it craps up again i'll remove and clean, like a good porsche "owner".... though i think these cars actually OWN me!

I just replaced the ISV (and oxygen sensor) on my car to fix a jumpy idle, and it is a HUGE PAIN! (Good chance to check all the hoses and wiring beneath the intake manifold, though). But the new valve didn't completely cure the problem.
Turns out it was the TPS. The microswitch was making the clicking noise at idle, but the contact was gummed up. Removed the TPS from the car and furiously cycled the switch a few times...put it back on the car and it solved the problem.
Hope this helps!

oh, the car runs fine, its just that the isv has now been crapped up twice, and sticking open. the first time it started happening my dad was changing out tps's we have like mad to see if that was it, and it wasnt. so i ended up reading on here and figuring that it was the isv... simply clean and reuse.. its worked twice so far... maybe i didnt' clean it good enough the first time. c'est la vie!

I wonder if the motor in that valve just gets cooked over time? I know a new valve is expensive, but seeing that it's so labor-intensive to replace, maybe a new one is the solution.
