Porsches should only come in two or three colors: Black, Guards Red, or yellow(which wasn't an option when the turbo was made...as far as I know anyways.)
My car used to be arena red.....one word. Ick!

This is my 87 944S In "Summer yellow" . It was an option in 87. I guess it's good we all like what we have. I love it!

DAMN Perry951- you and I agree on WAY too many things I was looking for a white one, and came across my Zermatt Silver- I like the silver better now, but wish I had linen instead of black interior...
I normally like lighter colors better, as they're easier to keep clean and cooler in the summer. I DO like black & other dark colors, but they're too much for me- I owned one for a few years...
I don't like many cars in blue, but these cars look BEAUTIFUL in every shade of blue I've seen them in- I especially like MattP's Glacier Blue '89- white interior dash, etc, and SOME DARK blue...
TIM- is your car the same as Matt's? Glacier Bule?
I drove an S2 several years ago- should have bought it
white w/DARK blue interior- I thought it was black until I opened the door...
I also like a recent car I found on this list- it's an '89- I believe the shade of red is called marachismo(?)...
I also like most of the greens I've seen, but they may be a hair dark- I like the 968 Amazon Green seems a little more blue, but is beautiful- as a matter of fuct, the first 951 I remember seeing (early '88) was DARK green- I'm pretty sure (in retrospect) that it was an '86...
I also like- well, hell, I like 'em ALL- EVERY color is the best color for these cars....

As the 944 is the only Porsche I think looks great in white I vote for that. Make it Alpine rather than Grand Prix, it really looks 'icier' and can almost hurt your eyes on a bright day. You'll never see a swirl mark, either.
Did I say I had one in that color? With color coded Fuchs with polished rims? With full leather interior, heated sport seats? Jeez, I loved that car as much as my 968.

Hey everyone!
Thanks for the suggestions. I agree that dark colors look great on the 944, but they get dirty really fast, are hot and can show more imperfections than lighter colors. I do like some metallics (especially silver) but also know that they can be hard to touch up with the inevitable chips. I do like the 944 in white, but then there are a lot of them out there and it might be neat to have something a little different. For example, here is the 944 Turbo I have now. The color is pretty uncommon, the car is easy to see in a crowd, but it gets as dirty and hot as a dark car.

A friend of mine in San Antonio who is doing a major restoration of a 951 had it painted vivid yellow ... pretty neat but also VERY LOUD! I am not sure if that is where I'd like to head, but there would be no doubt who's 944 it was! I've seen some BMW colors on M3's, such as a medium deep metallic blue that might be neat.
Anyways, I've got some time ... thanks for all the suggestions!

I'm in for another vote for the Alpine White. With the proper rims it can match any car out there. In addition, black 944 Turbos do look sexy as hell, though.

Black is kickass but I would love to see Titanium Silver (lamborghini) on a 951. I am goin to put Titanium on my 930. I don't think there is a classier color than silver on a sports car. While I do like black, I think the usual supects such as black, white and red are a bit overdone.

Yes nothing is harder to keep clean than a black car...until I used the Zaino polymer type wax thing on it. Ran through the steps of that, car stays clean for a couple WEEKS unless I drive in the rain. The stuff must have been invented by people with black cars. Now I just wash the car, spray the gloss enhancer on it, wipe it off, black mirror all the time.
It has the same affect on any darker color car, because it makes the car look how it is when it's wet. And the best part is it lasts forever! I went 6 months between coats and it still looked perfect...incredible. As opposed to having to wash the car probably twice a week to keep it clean which got old fast...I can see why most people stay away from black but with this stuff it cuts down the cleaning requirement by more than half..

Dave,
Where did you pick up this Zaino stuff? How much? BTW, although my NA vote only counts for 1/2 ( ) Garnet gets my thumbs up. Charcoal metallic (I think that's it - the color of the '86 951 in the magazine test against the 3.2 911 of the same color)is fantastic.
Thanks!
Micah
