Best color for 944 Turbo
#17
Best is... well pretty much SUBJECTIVE! I wanted either white or silver as I live in the south (TX). Dark cars suck -- they look awsome for maybe 1/2 hour after they are washed, show every ding, scratch, swirl, and they are HOT etc.
The zermatt silver is absolutely goegeous; but, If you ever had to touch up anything you'd be screwed trying to match the metalic paint (IMHO).
White is cool in the summer, hides a multitude of sin, and is easy to touch up if required.
I got the black interior for the same reason. Many of these cars cam with the burg. interior -- if you need to fix something -- good luck! With black, you can keep the color fresh with dye if necessary, replace a pannel, spray the plastic -- whatever.
For me white/blk was a perfect combo. Is it the best looking color when freshly painted... perhaps not, but I buy for the long haul and the white is much easier to keep looking good over a much longer time (I also have the white centered Fuchs)

when I bought mine i said anything but white or gold. i wanted grey or silver, got red. my brother then got gold, and its grown on me (so has a wart but thats for another board).
I dont think white highlights the flares.
I got a silver Aurora which has some of the lines of the 944 so the silver is sort of out of my system. seems the silver of the aurora really highlights the flares which get lost on the dark colored auroras.
the dark blue of my RX7 convertible (convertible only color, Harbor Blue Metallic) really lets you see the flares and isnt that dark a color. might be worth a look see if you aren't married to the porsche color chart.
when I sell the Firebird convertible and rx7 convertible I plan on looking for a 325/328 convertible, and my first choice is a blue gray BMW made in the late 90's. That would show the lines nicely too, give a look.

I always said anything but black or white. Then I test drove an Alpine white 951 with factory color-matched Fuchs and painted wheel crests - it was really nice. I could have lived with that if it passed a PPI.
On the other hand I get a lot of compliments on my Linen Grey 951 (sometimes described as chamagne gold). Nice modern color, not as common as silver.
Also test drove a Baltic Blue car - very classy color. Too bad it showed every swirl the PO had put in the paint.

My S2 is white... and although I don't mind it, especially with a black interior, I would have preferred silver.
Steve Russakov (yes, the "chip" guy) recently sent me a photo of his 2400 lbs. 400 hp Turbo S in a very bright yellow.
Some may not, but I like it...

Purple is my favorite color - but that car seems a bit scary!!! Looks good though.
My car is Guards Red and would not hesitate to say that I think Guards Red is what people think of as the "Porsche Color". I dunno....
A color/look I really like is the Delorian "stainless steel" look.
But I would have to say overall the best color would be clear - like that pic of the 944 Turbo that shows us the entire "guts" of the car. Wouldn't it be freaky if you had a clear paint/clear body panels car??? Think about it while I go make some Stir-fried Vegatables and Rice!!!

Guards Red is THE ultimate Porsche color for a weekend driver. The paint is too hard to maintain. That is why I have fallen in love with white. After seeing Huntley's 944 on ebay, I know that I will definitely buy my next one in white. I have not seen many white cars with beige interiors. Are these pretty ugly? I am partial to beige interiors.

I am a great fan of the black/tan or lt grey option. However, I plan on re-painting before next summer and I plan on putting something in or on the paint(something in the clear if base/clear) that will reflect a bit of purple or blue hue in the sunlight but in shade or at night look 100% black.
