Unhappy Anyone know how to take the Parking Brake lever apart?

My parking brake lever does not latch and the release button is pushed in. Anyone have any ideas on where to start on this. It's on the 84.

Thanks.

IIRC, 2 bolts hold it down to the car. Once you get it out it's very easy to see how the mechanism works. <img src="http://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/images/brake_parts/944_brake/7-01-10-1.jpg" alt=" - " />

Mine was doing the same thing. The piece with the teeth on it (lower right hand corner) was pushed too far down. It took maybe 15 minutes, but I just worked it back into place and oiled it up. Worked fine since.

I did a neat little swap you may want to consider. I bought a later style "leather covered" e-brake handle out of a junkyard in Kansas City. Cost me $20, a little cleaning with Armor All Leather wipes, and about 30 minutes to swap. It looks a lot better than the original handle in my '83.

I do like the look of the later style.
