Default Early 924 rear hatch trim removal?

Hi there,

I am trying to remove the metal trim around the hatch. Has anyone done it succesfully? How did you do it?
I am about to take the grinder and start grinding..

Thanks,
Jarmo

Jarmo,
First, any thing you do to remove the metal frame on the rear hatch may cause the glass to crack.
Two people are necessary to remove the hatch to avoid cracking of the glass.

If you have sun film on the hatch, it will be damaged by the removal of the metal frame.

SO....here are a couple of links to help you decide on which process to use. Good luck.

Default Hatch trim

Thanks for the links!

I have an extra hatch to work on so it's already off the car. I need to remove the trim so I can separate the glass from the frame. I will install a lexan hatch so I am not too worried about breaking the glass!

It's just that the trim sits there pretty tight.. and as this is an old 924 hatch with no spoiler.. the trim goes all around the hatch.
