Default Anyone have rod and main bearings for sale?

Hey guys. I am looking for a set of 2nd oversize (+.50mm) rod bearings and a set of 1st oversize (+.25mm) main bearings. Anyone have any laying around? I have tried most of the vendors and Pelican has the mains but the rods are cost prohibitive. The reason I am looking is I already have a knifed crank balanced and ready (I had both sets of bearings ready to go but they were accidentally destroyed when the box they were in was burned in the yard.... by my wife.... ugh).

Anyways, if anyone has these handy I have cash in hand. Thanks guys!

Chris - How are you? I have the defective short block out of my car. Don't know what size bearings are in it - stock I am sure. Let me know if those might be handy.

If someone has recently bought 0.25 or 0.50 oversize bearings I would like to know how you got them and what the price was.

I got 0.25 mains from EBS Racing don@ebsracing.com for $335 at the end of 2008.
Rod bearings were 325€ and I got them from Germany. (0.25 oversize).

Why they make oversize bearings out of gold

Last time I considered oversize bearings I found it was cheaper to source a used crank once and just get standard bearings. This for my race car so I consider rod bearings a maintainance items.

Still good luck.

BTW... the reason they cost so much is low volume.

What is the minimum con rod journal diameter? 51.971 mm?

I have used crank from 83 944 and it has not spun the bearings but all journals are scratched a little. I do not have micrometer so I cannot say how worn they are. There are some scratches that I can feel with fingernail. And yes, 83 crank has cross drilled con rod journals and forged rods.

How much metal would polishing take off?
What is a good clearance for track? Factory specs?

Hey guys thanks for the responses. Here's an update. After sourcing the.050 over rod bearings and .025 over main bearings, I came to the conclusion that financially that just was not an option. I now have a knife-edged and cross drilled crank that needs those bearings, so if anyone is interested in it, let me know! I happened to have another knifed and cross drilled crank on the shelf (don't ask why) which also has enlarged oil passages, with standard journals, so I had it balanced and polished, bought standard bearings, and off we go. It was $600 that I didn't intend on spending, but hey, it's just money right. I can't take it with me! Thanks for everyones input!

Totally doing it unless someone thinks they can get the bearings for it... it's a shame b/c I have about 8 hours in cutting it, $100+ in balancing and polishing. It will be a very expensive lamp. Maybe I could use a Carrera GT wheel as shade, with a unicorn hair pull chord....

That's the spirit!

Your pride reminds me of that lamp in A Christmas Story.
