Question Cabriolet kits?

Do they exist? I know they have some Datsun Z car kits that make them look a whole lot better. I would not want to chop up a nice clean 944, but a high mileage 944 like mine, if done correctly, would be real sweet, IMO. I would love to have the real deal, but they are way out of my price range right now. Anyone know of any place that makes them?http://www.reactionresearch.com/zxspydergallery.html

Check out this Datsun kit. Wonder what look they are going for there?

Sorry, tried to get the image up but it didn't take. The link works well enough though.

To answer your question, I don't think just cutting the roof off of a 944 would work, you'd need to add a lot of support to keep the car from sagging.

Considering the biggest weakness in the early Z-cars is frame rust, I'm not sure cutting those is a good idea either.

Why on earth would you cut a 944 coupe when a cab already exists?

The body would sag so much I doubt the doors would open.

No offence but this idea belongs with the idea of putting a 951 motor in a 844 NA body.

A. As I said in the original post I can not afford the real thing or I wouldn't ask apparently stupid questions.
B. The Cabriolet was a conversion to a factory coupe done by American Sunroofs in the first place. So I guess it can be done.
C. It was just a question, I haven't got out the sawzall yet.

It seems to me that the cost of trying to make an old 944 into a cab, would far exceed the cost of purchasing a high mileage factory cab...am I missing something here? Now with that said, I know a few people had their 944 turbos converted into cabs by some company that isn't in business anymore. Somebody who drove one of them said it creaked a lot and felt very loose, I think the factory added support in the floor and did a whole lot of other things to make it work out. But if you have the time and the will power to try and make it work, good luck. But I still say you find an old beat up cab and then try and repair it.

Thanks, I am sure you are correct. I just thought I would toss the question out there. I figured if there was such a conversion y'all would know about it and if it was any good.
If they think that question was stupid, wait till I ask about kevlar/spectra timing belts.
