Post Car won't run

Last nite i was comming home and the car just died out of nowhere.. when i tried to start it back up, the car ran for a few seconds then cut out.. after 2 more times of running and cutting out, the car would only just turn over and not catch.

i figured it was the DME relay. i took of the fuel return hose from the FPR and bridged pins 87b and 30 on the DME relay. pump had power and was putting out gas.

tried starting the car again and it would run for exactly 3 seconds and cut out. each time i would restart it, it would run for EXACTLY the same time (3 seconds) then cut out again...

i then bridged the same 2 pins with the relay plugged in, and the car ran for about 5 seconds and shut off. tried to start again and 5 seconds it ran, and then shut off again.

opened up the distributor and cleaned the cap (was allready pretty clean)

does anyone else have any idea of what it could be? the car gets spark and im pretty sure the fuel is comming ok. i also checked the speed and reference sensors and they are plugged in fine.

what else could be it?

thanks,
SHAUN

Try unplugging one of the injectors electrical conection. If that works then your fuel pressure is to high which would point to a bad FPR.

sorry to hear about your problems Shaun. I had the same problem with my car 2 weeks ago. Except for it was loose coil wires.

I'd vouch for what Tazman says too, could be a bad fuel pressure regulator or low voltage to injectors. Could be a faulty airflow meter too. If you have a voltmeter handy do some checks for voltage to the terminal on the AFM then the injectors. Ask Skip for voltage numbers to see if yours are comparable. If not you could have something bad listed above. also if it bogs, you could have a vacuum leak or a cracked intake boot. Oh and sometimes auxilary air regulators do that too I believe....lemme know if you have trouble man, email me and I'll give you my cell number and I'll come help you out.
