Post Power Steering Rack Rebuild - Complete!

Well I finally got around to rebuilding my steering rack using a kit that sflraver provided. I am kind of a novice mechanic and I was worried about my ability to actually complete it. Well, much to my surprise, I finished it (with some almost real time tips from sflraver - THANKS!) and it does not leak any more!!! This was the most extensive repair I have attempted and now I feel that I am almost ready to attempt the oil cooler and other sources of oil leaks.

This board is fantastic and has saved me so much money and given me confidence to tackle almost any project. Thanks to all of you! Maybe one of these days I will be able to provide some help to someone else.

RJB -
I bought the same repair kit months ago but haven't gotten around to doing the overhaul yet. I'm not sure if it was the same seller. Anyway, do you have any of the emails, documents or websites I can access to do the same job? Thanks in advance.

Glenn, Drop me an email when you get into it and I will give you a hand. Also check out the tutorial on my web site listed below.

Rodney, I am glad to hear you got it back in the car and everything went ok. It's a wonderful thing to finish a job like that and find out you did it right the first time and not have to take everything apart again. I had some A-Arms once that just wouldn't quit a while back, ... I think I had them on and off the car at least 5 times.

If you can successfully reseal the rack, then oil cooler seals are a joke.
