I already have about a thousand rock chips, what's another couple of hundred!

I drove about 1/2 of the trip... Dan got the honors back when he said he wanted to pass the N/A's. We all know how that ended up with Justin taking the inside track! What fun! I think Dan almost had to clean his seat.

BTW, Dan, you see the pavement on that rise when we made our way back out? Easy to see where the momentary loss of traction happened.

I think I've got equal parts rock chips and paint on my front end already, so those roads didn't worry me a bit.

Man I had fun! It was great meeting all of you.

Thanks again to Tifo for suggesting the idea, and to Wade for warning Fricker's.

That has got to be one of the best drives I have ever taken. I am definately going to have to take some DE's or AutoX's sometime soon. But I must get better brakes, damn that brake fade!!!

Tifo, thanks for coming up with the idea. I think we had an excellent turn out. Sorry about the rock chips though, If it makes you feel any better, my rockers are pretty bruised and I found four chips on the nose before I stopped counting. I must say that your car handled like a champ around the twisties, all I saw in my mirror was you and pete so I figured everyone was back there somewhere. I would have loved to keep driving except I'd have probably run ot of gas(I went thru 3/4 of a tank today ) Hope to see you all at the taj event.

You should all get a test drive in a Mini S some day, they probably will surprise you. I find it easier to push than the turbo. Oh yea, Perry, I noticed it. It certainly wasn't obvious on the outbound leg...until it was too late. Nice area back there for what we were doing. It seems like we passed that old geezer jogging 4 times. He was waving at you all, but I got thumbs up for the Mini! I bet the 930 guy is posting over on the 911 board how he "dusted" (with rocks) a dozen 944s all at once.. It was Justin's fault I had to dive so deep on that corner, he was pulling a Schuey and closing my line! Justin, that GPS thing we talked about is at http://www.geocaching.com Check it out!

Man, I wish I had been able to attend. I was actually planning to. I started the car this morning for the first time in about 5 days. As I pulled out of the garage, there was a huge puddle of coolant underneath where the car sat. Looks like I've somehow sprouted a radiator leak. That, combined with my university's basketball team playing in the ncaa elite 8 @ 4:30 that afternoon, made me stay home. I had a friend who was willing to go with me, but I had not heard from him for the past few days.

My team ended up getting trashed in the tourney.....heck, I should have come up to meet you all anyway in my Audi and spared myself the misery of watching that loss.

Still looking forward to attending 944Fest though

Hey Micah, I almost forgot, I'll try to check out that early 85 944 that's for sale. I'll see what condition it's in and how much $$$ they'll take for it if you're interested.

Brian, Dan, when did you guys switch drivers?

And Dan, like Micah said, WE NEED THAT VIDEO!!!!

I would also appreciate if anybody with digital pictures could email them to me at jjdennis@indiana.edu, or if you could post them somewhere.

Pete,

Thanks for checking for me. Even if I can't do it, I'd like to report your findings to Chris_924S BTW, it was great talking with you today - Les says hello!

I've got about 30 good digital photos. I'll post some and send to everyone Monday (darn upload cord is at work). I wish I had a shot of the 930 when flames were coming out of the exhaust when we were hammering it out in Oregonia. Eric was too busy holding on for dear life in my car to take any pictures at that point. [ ]

Stone chips are cool, a good sign of the fact that my car gets driven. It's not like my paint is nice. That's the last thing on my list to do.

Man, I could hang with Pete in the 930 in the twisties, but as soon as we had a straight patch of road, he'd leave me like Flo-Jo running away from Willard Scott.

Pete and Jason, I was trying to be kind on your paintjobs when we were in the "chip-n-seal" sections, honest!

That was a friggin blast! The first time I have really pushed my car like that...I have to say it responded very well! I think I came away with only rock chips on the header, and you know that can always be repainted easily!

I do have to say that everyone should invest in a set of M030 bars, they are really very impressive as I was stickin' like glue on the twisties.

Thanks to all that attended, can't wait to see you at 944"924" fest!

Dan, could you e-mail me those pictures you wer snappin of my car? e-mail addy is "jason.chance@atosorigin.com.

Thanks to all who showed and Jeremy for organizing,

Jason
