If y'all are truly getting excess gas in the oil, check the following:

A) fuel mileage should be down somewhat (you _do_ calculate this, at least occasionally, right?).

B) Sparkplugs will likely have heavy black sooty deposits; if it's on all of them, suspect the FPR or all injectors; if only on one or two, likely those injectors are leaking.

C) Some black smoke at the exhaust, especially under acceleration.

These checks assume a ~clean air filter, but they're at least cheap to do... <img src="graemlins/bigok.gif" border="0" alt="[thumbsup]" />

On a side note, big marine diesels often have spring-loaded blow-out plates on the sides of the crankcase. If enough fuel leaks into the oil (stuck or worn injectors) to cause a crankcase explosion ( !!), these vent the blast into the engineroom ( !! !!) instead of cracking the block.... And the last big diesel I worked on was a 2,072 cubic inch two-stroke, with seven cylinders & 14 pistons.... and an oil change was fifty-five---- (wait for it!)--- _gallons_!

I WAS going to change the oil today and see, but I went out for my first round of golf ever (yeah, I sucked), and I didn't get a chance. Tomorrow hopefully. Anyway, I'll also check all four plugs. I can't calculate fuel mileage cause I can't drive the car (long story, lots of repairs), and it's looking like more time w/o it on the road, since a front fender has to come from Germany (not my fault, some dip-wad backed into me). Anyway, I also don't want to drive it with fuel in the oil. Thanks for the suggestion Jim on determining injectors or FPR (or maybe all injectors ).

JJS,

I like the leaky injector scenario, but here's another: If you're running too rich (related to FPR, injectors and all that) you could get the same thing happening. I had a supercharged BMW that I thought I smelled gas in the oil. A air/fuel mixture gauge could help.
